Cherokee Purple - first pick of 2014

This is the first group of Cherokee Purple tomatoes for the 2014 growing season.  I unfortunately forgot how utterly delicious this tomato is.  This beautiful heirloom has a Merlot colored inside with a smoky taste that will blow-your-mind.  And yes, smoky.  Seriously, if you love the taste of store bought tomatoes, do not ever eat a Cherokee Purple, lol!  You will be ruined for life!!!

Pruden's Purple & Super Sioux tomato plants

This photo was taken this past Sunday at the Farmers Market.  It was such a beautiful day!  The tomato plants at the forefront of the table is a potato leafed variety called Pruden's Purple.  The plant bears medium sized, purple tomatoes that are very rich and sweet tasting.

German Orange Strawberry (sliced)

This is a pic of the super tasting German Orange Strawberry.  It has very few seeds (as you can see) and tastes slightly sweet.  I canned this tomato last year.  I just opened a jar about two days ago.  The flavor tasted just as good, if not better, than fresh off the vine!!  YUM YUM!!

I unfortunately only saved just enough seeds to plant.  Next year I will definitely have emough seeds to sell AND plant.

If you are interested in purchasing this, or any other variety of heirloom tomato, please visit my etsy shop.  Just search for AnnsGreenGarden (no spaces).  Thanks for looking!!!

Indigo Apple Tomato (sliced)

Yes, this tomato tastes as good as it looks!  I took this pic last year right before I roasted them in the oven.  The tomato is very meaty, and has a slight sweet/tart taste.  I canned them after I roasted them.  The canned ones tasted better than the fresh ones!!!

You can purchase the seeds on my Etsy shop.  40 seeds for $3.50.  Copy and paste this link in your browser ... https://www.etsy.com/listing/178385979/indigo-apple-heirloom-tomato-seeds?

Heirloom Tomato Salsa

OMG!  I made this DELICIOUS salsa last year as an experiment.  It was  SO TASTY!!!  I just came across this photo yesterday.  I forgot I took it.  I actually canned salsa last year.  I made two kinds - the chunky one you see in this pic, and also a roasted and blended one.  Both included onion, cilantro, jalapeno and habanero peppers.  Jalapeno for taste, habanero for heat.

I will be selling the canned salsa later this year in my Etsy shop.  Yay!!!

I was laughing to myself when I took this pic.  This is my whole growing operation.  It consists of organic soil, vermiculite and dry organic fertilizer mixed in a bowl made for tamale masa.  Since I don't make tamales, I decided to make great soil for growing tomatoes.  Ann's Green Garden was born!!

I love to find new ways to grow my tomato seeds.  Last year I discovered Smart N Final.  You can absolutely start your plants in everyday containers you set out for recycling.  Keep an open mind, and don't forget to poke holes in the bottom of those containers!  This is a pic of Cherokee Purple sprouts I started in containers I bought at Smart N Final.

I am selling two groups of what I call "Wildcard" tomatoes this year.  One group is red heirloom tomatoes, the other, yellow and orange.  I picked the tomatoes at Full Circle Farms in Sunnyvale and did not have time to identify each variety.  I did, however, save the seeds.  Since I do not now the varieties, I am offering these plants for $2 each this year.

This pic shows the "Yellow & Orange Wildcard" varieties.

If you would like to purchase any of the tomato varieties seen, please contact me - annsgreengarden@gmail.com
